Reaction Type Visualization

This activity lets students differentiate types of reactions using visual cues. The visuals are particularly useful for visualizing a reaction that falls into more than one category of reaction type.

Directions: In this activity, you will see visualizations of different types of reactions. Using your observations, answer the questions for each visual. Each student should do their own work, but discussion in your group is encouraged!

Here is worksheet to download, which asks the following for each visual:

  1. Describe, in words, what’s going on in this picture
  2. Write down the equation for the reaction being shown
  3. Write down the reaction type. Does this fall into more than one category? List any others as well.
